There are no distinct instructions that I can give you this way, however, there are two aspects of drawing that everyone has and needs to know about: the Hand and the Eye. [There's also the 'mind's eye' which is more to do with concept art, but that's for another time]
The hand, obviously, is what guides the pencil or tablet pen around the paper/graphics tablet. Pretty simple. However, what gives your hand the ability to do this is the Eye.
The Eye is that which allows you to judge your mistakes, and assess your own artwork, and thus make alterations to them. It is what gives you a sense of right and wrong. When a better artist points out one of your mistakes and you notice, your Eye level increases.
Whenever you learn something new about how light works, or how the human body works, you improve your Eye level. And when you practice drawing certain things, or just
draw at all, you improve your Hand level ever so slightly.
Now, the great thing is, the Eye level can't really go down. Which is how you improve; as you draw your Hand level goes up, and as long as you are taking in information for the Eye, you will
continue to grow as an artist.
This is important. If you stop trying to correct big mistakes in the work you produce, if you lack the motivation to or simply don't think you need to study things like lighting, anatomy, colour, emotion etc..., or have
never assessed your work in any way, your Hand level may increase [albeit slowly] but your Eye level will remain very low; such that an
average, but egotistical artist arises....
I have seen this
WAY</b> too many times, where there's an artist who clearly isn't that good but simply cannot and WILL NOT accept criticism, no matter how polite or constructive. You may see them claiming unappealing exaggerations
[read:: mistakes] as just 'part of their style' and that you don't know what style is. This CAN be true in some cases, where the critic has no fundamental creativity/artistic mindset, but this is not so common.
Summed up? There's the Eye and the Hand. Don't just look after your Eye, but nurture it and always
look for more. If you draw enough in conjunction with the Eye's guidance, the Hand will improve effortlessly.
Titty Tip:</b> Fine, draw the boobies how you want. But once you're done, use your goddamn imagination and look at the chest behind the boobies. If it is stretched 5feet behind the ribcage, chances are you ignored the fact that the boobies exist as balloons on the chest, [and yes, this IS an okay way of saying it because I know a lot of people say not to treat them like balloons - just remember that they're a lot firmer, and are stuck to the chest all on one side] and do not constitute a structure on which the arms, legs, and shoulders lie.
Not making much sense?
Okay. What I'm basically saying is that far too many times I see the chest posed in a ridiculous fashion such that the upper chest ends up sitting
wayyyyy behind the ribcage, like this:
If you're gunna draw big titties, do it right. For your health.
yes, you can study boobies for homework. for your Eye.
SHORJY OUT!
